Incredible cover of book published in 1932
by Truthexplorer inok, i am reading through the book the watchtower and the masons by fritz spring meier which i am finding a fascinating read; and discovered that judge rutherford published the book 'cause of death'.
what is incredible is the book cover.
the book was published in 1932 which would have been a little bit more eye catching back then.

The most amazing pharoah in history yet he's not even mention in the bible!
by Crazyguy inhis name was unas, he started his rule in 2375 bce .
some how he found out about noah and his ark and i'm thinking around the year 2371 he travel to northern mesopotamia to get on the ark.
(wt says the flood happened 2370-2369 bce) either he bribed noah (since gods covenant was only for noah and his family) or he hid away on the ark.

Its like that flood didn't teach him anything at all!

The question no JW can answer without resorting to babbling
by Crabby inlet me ask you only one question.
first i need to clarify a few things.
in the new world translation, john 1:1 reads: “in [the] beginning the word was, and the word was with god, and the word was a god.” then in isaiah 9:6 (nwt) we read: “for there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder.

Arguing the trinity is like rearranging the chairs on the titanic.
this is moot, because the bible ascribes the title "god", to judges (men), angels, and if they ascribe it to Jesus, it doesn't make his the offshoot triune person of a God-head.
A better question for you as a believer, is why do you believe the world was ever covered in water up to the tallest mountain, but God hid all evidence of this extinction event?

Continuum of an Exit
by zarco ina few random thoughts about my continuum.
did your exit follow this process?
doubts – this is tough phase because the mind begins and then continues to prove to itself through logic and facts that the “truth ain’t the truth”.

Kind of like the stages of grief.
I think wether you ever graduate from X-JW, to Ex-X-jw has to do with wether that world still enters or is a part of your life. I don't see myself ever being on the other end of that.

Why are the atheists on this site so hateful?
by HopeEverLasting inall us creationists try to do is offer true evidence that the one and only god is out there watching and looking down on us.
we present that certain scientists know the truth about god and that he is everything that we see from trees, life, weather, the air we breath, and even the most simple molecules.
but of course you atheists reject it because it is your nature to not be humble and see god because you want to rule your own life.

Well THAT was quite the post. While not an athiest (although truthfully I am starting to lean that direction), and CERTAINLY note hate filled.....I find your post incredibly narrow minded and judgemental. Part of what woke me up as a JW.
Your comment "all we try to do is offer true evidence", means literally nothing. A conversation is a great thing to have, and I don't mind disagreements and not feeling the same way about something. that was only something I couldn't handle as a JW.
However you have started the conversation in a closed loop. "Why are athiests so hateful?" Its like starting a conversation on the merits of blueberry pie with "Why is blueberry pie the most horrible dessert ever made?". Your assumption is in the question. You have no desire for conversation. there is just some sort of payoff to come and stir the pot. Maybe look into yourself deeply and figure out what about you has that desire, with no real meaning or want to get into an actual discussion.
However, let me share some of the things from the bible I have a hard time accepting. Meaning, it sounds more like the explanations of God from an ancient nomadic tribal people....not reality (if God does exist).
The God of the bible regretted he made man, yet had the ability to know how it would turn out. So he does an etch a sketch shake on the world known as the global flood, which would have killed BY DROWING about 20 million people more or less. Why would God choose drowing when he could just disappear all the bad guys, Like Gulliani did the homeless in times square? that makes no sense. Also, he then chooses to leave NO evidence of this happening.
So anyways, he then inspires a holy book that declares itself to be the only one worth reading, that contradicts itself numerous times, and DOES in fact not paint a rosey picture of what God will do to humanity. It also spawns 16,000 sects related to it. This is not very brilliant.
Finally, Gods chosen people commit genocide and infanticide without a peep from him, yet someone goes to stabilize an ark, and is struck dead.
How do you reconcile these things as a believer?
See.....that is how you start a discussion.
So...

Shunned by family
by Ruth inmy fiancé is an ex-jehovah’s witness.
when he was 18 years old, his 17 year old brother was killed in an accident.
his parents having previously lost an infant daughter were understandably distraught and were therefore highly susceptible to an organisation which seemed to be able to supply definitive answers where more mainstream religion seemed to fail them..

Ruth,
Have you considered playing dumb with the? Feigning interest in the religion, and understanding it, in order to point out the illogical unloving nature of shunning?
Just a thought.

Rumor: Discouraging news from GB at upcoming CA?
by bohm inthis is on the reddit frontpage and sounds super weird.
can it be confirmed in any way by anyone here?.

Perhaps it will finally be revealed that the GB is actually a bunch of crafty raccoons in human suits that rotate through the various members, and have been siphoning funds slowly in order to finance a large trash collection empire. Yes those nefarious racoons want their hands on your money for the purposes of taking all of our trash, and they don't care who they have to let molest whom to get it.
Raccoons are notorious for this behavioral moxy, and a general self preservationist attitude.
Honestly......its the only thing that makes sense. Salvation will now be directly tied to weather you work with these raccoons and give them all of your trash.

Big Boldfaced Lie in Meeting Workbook for August 1-7, 2016
by SAHS inthere is a fundamental lie which i couldn’t help noticing today in the our christian life and ministry—meeting workbook for august 1-7, 2016. it is in the little supplemental page considered this week under the title “improving our skills in the ministry—helping bible students to progress to dedication and baptism,” in the first paragraph (labelled “why important”), third sentence.
here is that sentence:.
“a christian’s dedication is to jehovah—not to a human, a work, or an organization.”.
-
problemaddict 2
Double talk. They are damn near brilliant at it. Here it is.
Your dedication is to Jehovah not to an organization or men. Your salvation is dependent on how you work with those men and that organization in part however, because Jehovah has appointed them. See how you are dedicated to Jehovah and not men but need to listen to men because Jehovah wants you to?
My head hurts.

Good luck. Branch out. You can get it. Its a tough slog through comedy, but if you enjoy it, go for it. You need character, relatability, and conversational comedy. Don't be overly specific, just tell stories and tweak them until they are funny.
